The training course on environmental certification for ship dismantling was held in Nanning

On June 18th, the "Ship Dismantling Environmental Protection Certification Work Training Course" jointly organized by the Autonomous Region Environmental Protection Department and the Transportation Department was held in Nanning. Zhou Yinong, Deputy Director of the Transportation Department of the Autonomous Region, attended the training course.

The main purpose of this training course is for the person in charge of the Environmental Protection Technology Center of the Autonomous Region Environmental Protection Department to provide a detailed interpretation of the "Notice of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Environmental Protection Department and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Transportation Department on the Environmental Protection Certification Conditions for Ship Repair Plants to Apply for Inland River Ship Dismantling Business" (hereinafter referred to as the "Notice"), and to answer on-site questions from ship repair enterprises regarding shipyard environmental impact assessments.

It is understood that currently, most shipbuilding enterprises in our district do not have the environmental qualifications for ship dismantling, and according to relevant national regulations, they are unable to carry out ship dismantling business. The purpose of holding this training course is to enable shipbuilding enterprises to fully understand the conditions and procedures for applying for environmental certification for ship dismantling business, to start ship dismantling work as soon as possible, and to handle environmental issues in shipyards prudently. According to the requirements of the Notice, for designated enterprises with shipbuilding qualification certificates that carry out onshore dismantling business of inland dry cargo transport ships with a total tonnage of less than 300 tons and old transport ships (excluding oil tankers and hazardous chemical ships), after joint on-site inspection and confirmation by the municipal and county environmental protection and transportation authorities, the environmental impact assessment procedures can be simplified. That is, shipyards can temporarily carry out the above related business after improving relevant environmental protection facilities and equipment.

More than 30 responsible persons from the Autonomous Region Port and Shipping Administration, Nanning, Liuzhou, Guilin, Wuzhou, Beihai, Fangchenggang, Guigang Environmental Protection Bureau, Transportation Bureau, and designated enterprises for the standardized dismantling of inland river vessels in our region participated in the training.
